Excerpt from Manual of Composition and Rhetoric
The present volume has been prepared to meet the needs of those teachers and students who require a manual of Composition and Rhetoric somewhat fuller, and rather more advanced, than the same authors' Elements of English Composition. Much of the matter in the two books is the same, but the Manual differs from the Elements in arrangement,1 and it takes up the several subjects in greater detail and carries them farther. It also contains a large quantity of new material.
