Excerpt from The Next World Interviewed
A previous volume, given through the mediumship of Mrs. Horn, entitled Strange Visitors, was so interesting, that it gave pleasure to learn that another volume of a similar kind was in preparation, and that the Spirit editor, Judge Edmonds, desired that it Should be placed in our hands for publication. The matter was found to be insufficient to form a volume of the kind intended, and during the movements of the medium, to secure favourable conditions for receiving further communications, much time was exhausted, as the dates appended indicate. The localities subjoined to the several articles testify to the great extent of travel involved in preparing the book.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book offers a fascinating glimpse into the beliefs about the afterlife prevalent during the Spiritualist movement of the late 19th century. Through the mediumship of Mrs. Horn, prominent figures from history, literature, and politics offer their perspectives on the nature of the spirit world, its social structure, and the fate of individuals after death. The accounts presented encompass a range of viewpoints, from the socialist ideals of Harriet Martineau to the scientific curiosity of John Stuart Mill, reflecting the diverse intellectual currents of the era. Themes of social reform, education, and the ethical use of wealth are explored alongside questions about the nature of consciousness and the relationship between the spiritual and material realms. By providing a platform for these voices from beyond the grave, the author challenges contemporary notions of reality and invites readers to consider the possibility of a world beyond our physical senses. The book's insights into the enduring human search for meaning and connection offer a poignant reflection on the legacy of Spiritualism and its impact on our understanding of life, death, and the afterlife.
