Synopsis
This book comprises a series of comic sketches performed before the public on a single stage, arranged into two parts. In Part I, this book includes entertainment by Mose and Charley (in song and dance), Minnehaha (an Indian dancer), Madame Spirituella (a fake spiritualist medium), and an old-fashioned girl performing old-fashioned songs. An intermission provides an opportunity for the audience to sing along to old songs. Part II features Deacon Small and his wife and Ruth Sandy-knee (in a reading on monologue), Carmancita (who sings in Spanish costume), and The Hipparty-Hop Twins (in song and dance), as well as The Blow Brothers (a colored orchestra). Each sketch was designed to appeal to diverse audiences and their local sensibilities, offering an amusing insight into comedy in early 20th century America.
