Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book provides a rare view of England's Counter-Revolution through a study of the reigns of Charles II and James II. The author shows how the Stuart dynasty was incompatible with the interests of England at the time, leading to their second and final fall. The book argues that their downfall was not a result of anti-royalist sentiment, but rather a direct consequence of the Stuarts' attempts to restore an outdated and oppressive system and their disregard for the evolution of the English political landscape. It shines a light on the fact that the nation had grown weary of the Stuarts' efforts to reassert absolute monarchy and embrace Catholicism, ultimately embracing a new era of constitutional monarchy and increased freedoms. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. Seller Inventory # 9781330671917_0
