Excerpt from Passages for Translation Into Greek
Tms selection of Exercises in Greek Prose consists of two parts. Part I contains prepared passages. Part II unprepared.
In each part the exercises are arranged under the heads Of Narrative, Platonic, and Rhetorical. This arrangement has been adopted as most convenient, although it may occasionally involve some cross-division.
The unprepared passages are in a great measure parallel in matter or form to the prepared passages, with the view of making the first part introductory to the second. In each subdivision the exercises are arranged on a graduated scale as to difficulty: beginning with short sentences, and simple syntax, and proceeding to periods of more elaborate structure.
