Who could hesitate to Joln in so holy a work? We meet without distinction of party. NO little shades of difference created by the passing events of the day, are permitted to disturb the harmony of feeling with which we now come together as brothers, as citizens of a common country, as joint heirs of a common in heritance in the glory of our ancestors and the bless ings which they have bequeathed to their posterity.
If as children of New England we celebrate this anniversary with peculiar 1nterest, in your minds, fellow-citizens of Charlestown, its return must awaken a still more lively emotion. On the 17th of June, 1775, the storm of war, which had previously raged in distant regions, and of which you had heard only some faint and feeble echo, burst with more than Wonted fury upon your own fair and flourishing town.
