AN encourager of this work propofed it as an improvement to the tranflation 'of Kalm's travels, to add in the margin the paging of the original,*as by' this means recourfe would be had eafily to the quotati ons made by Dr. Linnaeus. We would very: readily have complied with this dryide~ ratum, had we had the Swedi/b edition of this work at hand, or had the work not been too far advanced at the time we got this kind hint: however this will be remedied by a copious index, which will certainly appear at the end of the whole work.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book recounts the extraordinary journey of a Swedish scientist through North America in the 18th century. The authorââ â¢s travels, undertaken with the support of the Royal Academy of Sciences in Stockholm, were driven by a desire to understand and collect new plant species, particularly those with potential applications in Swedish agriculture and medicine. The book offers a rich and detailed account of the authorââ â¢s encounters with the natural world of North America, detailing his observations of flora, fauna, and the environment. Beyond the scientific pursuit, the book also provides an insightful glimpse into the burgeoning colonial landscape of the time. The authorââ â¢s journey takes him through the early settlements of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and he provides observations on the ways of life of the early colonists, their farming practices, and the architecture of their towns. His observations on the cultural differences between the Europeans and the indigenous peoples of the region, particularly the Iroquois, offer a unique perspective on the colonial encounters of the era. The bookââ â¢s vivid descriptions and insightful commentary contribute significantly to our understanding of the early American experience.
