George Herbert Palmer (1842 1933), was an American educator, philosopher, and author. He was born in Boston, a graduate of Harvard (1864), Andover Theological Seminary (1870), and studied in Europe (1867 69). His books include The Life and Works of George Herbert (1905); translations of the Odyssey and Sophocles' Antigone; The Field of Ethics (1901); and Altruism: Its Nature and Varieties (1919).
