This book invites readers to follow a series of moral discourses on the Scripture. Beginning in Septuagesima week, the author opens the first chapter of Genesis and interprets the ancient prophecies contained therein. The author, a priest, has carefully sought guidance from the Fathers of the Church in explaining these sacred passages and has consulted more recent authors to provide a comprehensive understanding. The author's mystical interpretation of the Mosaic writings exhibits the spirit of prophecy - one of mystery and allegory - showing how future events were veiled and wrapped in a pale and misty atmosphere. Only when the light of the morning breaks forth are the full outline and proportions of the prophecies discovered. The author desires in a future volume to continue this subject throughout the entire series of the Prophetic Books, for there are treasures of piety set off in simple and chaste style in this volume that will make it welcome in every Catholic home.
