Excerpt from The Two-Edged Sword: Lenten Lectures
I. - About five hundred years after the crea tion of the world, there lived a certain man whom nature had endowed with all desirable qualities of soul and body. He had a noble mind, a sublime understanding, great will power, and ability to rule. His figure was beautiful, his strength that of a giant, his health good and unchanged up to his eight-hundredth year; he was a beauty and ornament of nature. The ruler of many subjects, he ruled continually in peace and enjoyed unlimited liberty, having everything according to his wishes. He had numberless children and children's children, even to the seventh generation, and saw himself respected and honored by all as their ancestor. He stood in need of nothing; in short, he was what the world would call a lucky, prosperous, happy man.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book consists of a series of Lenten lectures that teach the reader how to ignite a true hatred of sin by deeply reflecting on its malice and evil. The author first teaches the reader how miserable the sinner is and how to employ the means of freeing themselves from this misery. Secondly, the book delves into the malice and enormity of sin, showing the reader how heinous sin is because of its ingratitude to God and its preference of the creature over the Creator. The book concludes by demonstrating sin is an enormous evil that wounds and crucifies God. If we fail to properly hate sin, we will wind up sinning again and again, without end.
