Synopsis

A sweeping look at the American West, where cowhands, rustlers, and dreamers stake their marks in a rugged frontier world. This edition invites readers into the long days of roundups, brandings, and river crossings, where teamwork and grit shape both cattle and character.

The book blends historical detail with vivid storytelling to bring to life the Bar Cross brand, the Jornada range, and the people who ride, work, and dream under endlessly changing skies. From corral to camp, it traces hard work, loyalty, and the hopeful tension between independence and community in a land of drought, flood, and opportunity.

  • Experience authentic frontier ranch life, including roundups, corrals, and the daily rhythm of cattle drives.
  • Meet a cast of cowmen, wranglers, cooks, and brand crews who rely on trust and teamwork.
  • Explore themes of ambition, camaraderie, and the pull of two futures—land ownership and shared work.
