Excerpt from Christ's Cure for Care
A Book on Care must needs be written with care.
Thank God, there is a blessed Gospel for busy men and burdened women, but it must be a Gospel that is fitted for their moments of leisure. Whatever it may lack at the hands of him who brings it, there must not be wanting sympathy, interest, homeliness. This has been my thought, my aim, my prayer in writing this book. The homeliest of ills, I have sought to deal with it in homeliest fashion.
To make it the more complete I have added such hymns as seemed likely to set forth its teaching more fully; for there is a soothing in the lilt and rhythm of words as well as in their sentiment, for which a jaded soul is often grateful.
For the use of Miss Rossetti's poem, I have to acknowledge my indebtedness to Messrs.
