Synopsis

Excerpt from The Linleys of Bath

IF it had not been for the access to original letters, or to transcripts of original letters, that has been allowed me, this volume must have been meagre indeed. The letters written after marriage by Mrs Sheridan and Mrs Tickell are in the possession of the Sheridan family, and large portions of them were transcribed by Mr Walter Sichel when he was preparing his biography of Sheridan. These transcripts he has, with the permission of Mrs Algernon Sheridan, lent me, and many extracts from them appear. The record of her mother's early life made by Alicia Sheridan (mrs Joseph Le Farm) 13 quoted pretty fully In Fraser Rae's Sheridan.
