Excerpt from Distinctive Principles of Baptists
Baptism is a New Testament ordinance. This the Westminster Confession Of Faith concedes. The New Testament, therefore, should settle every question rel ative to baptism. This is the universal Opinion of Baptists. Pedobaptists, however, are not willing — as we shall see — to make an exclusive appeal to the New Testament in determining who are proper subjects of baptism. More of this in another place. My Object at present is to Show that there is no authority in the New Testament for infant baptism. Let us see. To the law and to the testimony.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book explores a fundamental debate within Christianity: the practice of infant baptism. The author, a Baptist minister, presents a compelling case against the baptism of infants, arguing that it lacks scriptural support. He meticulously analyzes New Testament passages often cited in favor of infant baptism, demonstrating their insufficiency and often misinterpretation. The book's examination of the relationship between the Jewish theocracy and the Christian church offers a thoughtful perspective on a complex historical and theological issue. The author contends that the two institutions are distinct, arguing that the Christian church emerged as a new entity, requiring a conscious act of faith and repentance for entry. This exploration of baptism and its relationship to faith, repentance, and the church is a valuable contribution to the ongoing dialogue surrounding this vital aspect of Christian life. By examining the scriptural evidence, the author sheds light on the distinctiveness of Baptist beliefs and challenges readers to reconsider the foundations of their own understanding of the sacraments.
