This book presents a comprehensive record of letters, weather observations, steamboat arrivals and departures, and Indian visitors to the superintendency of Indian affairs at St. Louis between 1826 and 1831. The book is especially valuable as few scattered records of this superintendency have survived. The meticulous daily entries provide valuable insights into the political, social, and economic life of St. Louis in the latter years of William Clark's superintendency. The detailed meteorological and river stage data provide a vivid picture of the natural conditions of the time.
