Excerpt from Wiclif and Hus
As respects these proof-passages, they may be regarded as sufficient for the recognition, not only of the fact that the theology of. Hus is identical with that of Wiclif, but also of the nature and character of the use made of Wiclif's writings by Hus.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book examines the extent to which John Hus derived his religious doctrines from the English theologian, John Wycliffe. The author argues that Hus was a follower of Wycliffe from as early as 1403, and that the theological writings of Hus, especially his seminal treatise De ecclesia, were largely borrowed from Wycliffe. Through detailed analysis of many passages in the writings of both men, the study aims to show that Husâs arguments on transubstantiation, indulgences, the sale of benefices, and the nature of the priesthood, among other topics, all derive from Wycliffe. By demonstrating the direct intellectual lineage between the two thinkers, this book sheds new light on the development of the Hussite movement and its impact on the trajectory of the Reformation.
