The system of concentrated loads annexed, is very closely that generally laid down in the specifications of our principal railroads. The use of the tables will be found sufficiently illustrated for all those for whom they are designed. The principles upon which the calculations are based are given at length in the author's work, Strains in Framed Structures, from which these Tables are reprinted.
