Synopsis

This book investigates heredity in rabbits, particularly examining the inheritance of ear-size and body-weight. The characteristics of lop-eared rabbits are examined, including their sterility and its inheritance. The growth rate of lop-eared and short-eared rabbits is then studied in relation to size and ear-length. The main body of the text analyses the results of crossbreeding lop-eared rabbits with regular short-eared ones. The author concludes that offspring are a blend of parental characteristics, conforming to a mid-parental condition. This is true for both ear-length and body-weight, with no evidence of the dominance of one trait over the other.
