Excerpt from A Study of the Pentateuch for Popular Reading: Being an Inquiry Into the Age of the So-Called Books of Moses, With an Introductory Examination of Recent Dutch Theories, as Represented by Dr. Kuenen's, "Religion of Israel"
This work is substantially a reprint of articles published in the Unitarian Review, 1879 and 1880. I have not found it necessary to essen tially modify any of the arguments there pre sented in the present publication. Several works and many articles, at home and abroad, have since been published; but they do not in the slightest degree affect the force of the argument presented in the following Study.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book provides a comprehensive critique of the Dutch school of biblical criticism, particularly the work of Dr. Abraham Kuenen, who argued that the majority of the Old Testament was written during or after the Babylonian exile. The author presents evidence for the early existence of the Pentateuch and other biblical texts, challenging Kuenen's theory of a late origin. The book delves into the internal and external evidence supporting the traditional view of the Bible's authorship and composition, examining historical, linguistic, and literary aspects of the texts. Through a rigorous analysis of the arguments presented by Kuenen and other Dutch critics, the author presents a compelling case for the early origins of the Pentateuch, its historical accuracy, and its enduring significance as a foundational text in religious and literary history.
