Als ein Parergon, inmitten rein logischer Untersuchungen, die ihrem Gegenstand teilweis nicht fremd waren, habe ich die zweite Auflage dieser Schrift besorgt. Sie handelt von den gleichen Gegenständen, von denen die erste handelte, aber sie ist doch eine neue Schrift; anfangs dachte ich an die Übernahme einiger Paragraphen aus dem Original; aber es ging nicht an, wollte ich nicht das, was man Stilreinheit nennt und mit Recht auch von rein gedanklicher Arbeit fordert, ganz bei Seite stellen. Man mag mit 43 Jahren über sehr viele Dinge im Prinzip noch ebenso denken wie mit 25; eine andere Tönung gleichsam haben sie doch alle gewonnen.
