Mr. Stephen massett, the subject of our present sketch, or, as he is known in the literary world, J eems pipes, of Pipesville, is an Englishman by birth, but has passed the greater portion of his life in the United States.
Mr. Massett is the composer of some of the most popular songs in America, among them are, When the Moon on the Lake is Beaming, which has reach ed several editions; The Love 'knot, You're all the World to me, I'll Look for thee, Mary, and the Scotch Ballad, Take back the Ring, Dear Jamie, the music composed expressly for Madame Anna Bishop, by him, and sung by her with great success in California and Australia.
