Il più recente ed assai benemerito infra i biografi del Tasso, l'illustre Solerti, ribadì i giudizi del De Sanctis e del Cecchi; se non se, le poche righe con cui se ne shri gava lasciano arguire non esaminasse di proposito la que stione. Di suo, pare a noi averci trovato la sola incolpa zione di riuscire a volte faticoso ed oscuro; difetti cotesti, onde troppo sono corrivi ad appuntare le Opere filosofiche queglino, che solo ad occasione vi si accostano e ne fanno forzata lettura, mai alla Filosofia non avendo atteso con intelletto ed amore. A rimproverargli consimili mende pos sono unicamente averlo indotto i non infrequenti luoghi delle Lettere, dove il Tasso riveste i suoi ragionamenti d'una forma rigorosamente dialettica; ed i quali in noi destano piuttosto viva ammirazione, ravvisandovi una cospi cua maestria del maneggiare qualsisia forma logica del pensiero.
