Man konnte sich nun den Werdegang ungefähr folgender maßen vorstellen: Die Gewohnheit, der Urkunde einen wört lichen Auszug der Hauptstellen beizufügen, mag dazu geführt haben, diese doppelte Ausfertigung als notwendig zu betrachten, aus der Gewohnheit wurde ein Gesetz. Da nun die Außen urkunde das beim Aufrollen zunächst benutzbare Stück war, fertigte man allmählich diese in voller Ausführlichkeit aus, während die Innenschrift dann das weniger Wichtige, nur pro forma Erforderliche wurde und ähnliche Kürzungen erleiden durfte, wie sie ehedem der außere Auszug aufwies, es brauchte nur eine wesentliche Übereinstimmung vorzuliegen.
