Excerpt from Maclean's Magazine, Vol. 24: May 1912
It is not to be supposed that Mr. Borden and his colleagues wish to prolong the un representative Parliament. They appear to be reasonable, prudent, honorable men. They know that their title of office after next year will be flawed if the present Parliament continue. They know that public opinion would credit them with fear of the electorate if they appeared anxious to staveoff a Redistribution Act, or the general election subsequent thereto.
