Excerpt from Essays in Criticism
Realising this somewhat elementary truth, the criticism of the future will study before it teaches; and will take little for granted. Since its fundamental object is constructive, it will feel the necessity of ascertaining be yond the shadow of a doubt that its founda tion is secure, and will recognise that we are yet children in our apprehension of spiritual truth. In a new and truer sense of the word, it will be inductive on the grand scale, and each new critical revelation of its masters will serve as an additional contribution to the body of our spiritual insight.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book discusses the transformative power of education as an avenue out of poverty and colonialism. Drawing on over 40 years of research and field practice as well as examples from 18 countries, the author encourages a reconceptualization of education to encourage local innovation and decolonization for true educational equity. Colonization and poverty have wreaked havoc on educational equity, limiting access to quality education and perpetuating systems of oppression. Through stories of marginalized groups, the author examines how education can combat the "coloniality of power," disrupt oppressive practices, and empower communities. Using qualitative data on the intersections of poverty and education, the book proposes and elaborates on seven principles for equitable education: participatory, culturally-grounded, community-based, collaborative, reflective, transformative, and disruptive. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
