Looking to the future, we wish to realise for ourselves, and to move our readers and friends to realise, that this coming year ought to be a new departure, and to witness the inaugu ration Of a new spirit in our work and in those who support it. We commemorate not only the Royal Jubilee, but the Cente 'nary of the Colonial Episcopate. On August 12, 1787, the first Colonial Bishop was consecrated. The gift Of the Epis copate to the Colonyof Nova Scotia was the triumphant result of a protracted series of struggles and of petitions on the part Of the Society for more than 60 years. It was a great point attained; it was not the speedy forerunner of many more Sees, which the welfare of the Church demanded; for many decades of years,-each successive See was established only after importunate struggles, but it was a precedent to which appeal could be made, and it secured for the Church the germ of that liberty which she now possesses in nearly all parts of her realm.
