Excerpt from Complex System: Using Complex Objects for Predicting and Controlling the Future
In general, the problem of non-determinism must be addressed to predict the future.
One way to restrict non-determinism and, consequently, make more accurate predictions about future states of a system, is to understand its objectives. As will be described in this report, there is a way to convert objectives into additional constraints, thus reducing non-determinism. To achieve this, techniques from optimal control theory [8] and operations research will be utilized.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book, part of a complex systems research tradition, introduces Complex Systems as an approach to modeling, predicting, and controlling behavior in complex engineered systems. The author proposes that structured data, represented as complex objects, can be used to model the behavior of such systems, with transformation rules describing local changes to the system. The method builds on existing object-oriented approaches while introducing additional features such as time and non-determinism. The resulting model can be used for both prediction and control, with the author proposing an optimization problem formulation to restrict non-determinism and achieve optimal system performance. The book is an important contribution to the field of complex systems, providing a comprehensive framework for modeling and analyzing their behavior, with applications in engineering, industrial, and organizational systems. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
