Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is a collection of hymns and sacred songs brought together by Reverend J. O. Embry. The publication of these hymns is a result of an expressed need for a cheaper and better arranged version of the old hymnal, in order to also make a music edition. The collection takes most of its material from the Episcopal and Methodist Episcopal Church hymnals, with a few selections from the Presbyterian, Baptist, and other miscellaneous sources. There are also 18 selections from the Psalter of the United Presbyterian Church, reduced to popular meter. The hymns are predominantly Wesleyan in authorship and spirit, and the collection is infused with a pure, orthodox, and evangelical spirit. This book stands as a standard upon which other hymnals are based, and its central core is a reflection of the broader developments in the practice of worship music. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. Seller Inventory # 9781333088118_0
