Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book details legislation from 1919 that restored public lands in California and Oregon back to the public domain. The lands in question had once been part of a bird reserve before being transferred to the US government for an irrigation project. The author provides an in-depth overview of the history of the land, including the legal battles and government reports that led to the restoration. The book also explores the broader context of public land use in the United States, discussing the tension between conservation and development. Ultimately, the book argues that the restoration of these lands is a victory for both conservationists and the public, as it ensures that these lands will remain accessible and protected for future generations.
