The American Revolution was an event which not only affected the contending parties, but involved in its consequences the destiny Of the world, The feelings, manners and principles which led to it were derived in legitimate succession from brave, pi ous and enlightened ancestors. As family resemn blance is peculiar to different nations in the lines Of the countenance, so it is accurately marked in the features Of character. The original character of a tnation, unbiassed by the pressure of tyranny, and unalloyed by foreign mixture, will be visible from its birth through maturity to its decline.
