Excerpt from Five Papers
In this long-continued preparation was included the pressing of three separate lines of labor, issuing in: 1. The collection of docu mentary evidence for the text The classification of this increas ing material; and 3. The formation of critical rules for the applica tion of the evidence in the final reconstruction of the text. It is clear that no text at all worthy of the name of critical could be formed un til the mass of evidence was collected and just as clear that the value of the text actually framed would depend on the soundness of the work done in the other lines.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book re-examines the quality of texts comparing 28 years of scholarly research of the Greek New Testament. After many critical reviews from both sides, it is clear that this text will continue to inspire debate. Exploring textual criticism with particular attention to the principles adopted by the Revision Committee, this book presents a deeper understanding of the evolution of the New Testament text. By dividing the history of the printed text into three stages, the author provides context to the development of this scholarly work. The first edition, published under a tight deadline due to concerns about publication of the Revised English New Testament, was a hasty work full of errors. The second stage was marked by the dominance of the Received Text, while the third stage saw the publication of critical editions and the scholarly work presented in this book. The book's insights on the formation of the New Testament text are groundbreaking and provide valuable information to scholars and theologians alike. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. Seller Inventory # 9781333489144_0
