This book tells the story of how and why white supremacists supplanted the Ku Klux Klan as the dominant force in organized hate movements in the United States. The author traces the evolution of the modern white supremacist movement from its roots in the anti-Semitism of the early 20th century to its current incarnation as a loose network of neo-Nazi skinhead groups and other extremist organizations. The book also examines the role of the internet in the growth of the white supremacist movement and explores the links between white supremacy and other forms of extremism, such as anti-immigrant sentiment and the militia movement. The author argues that the white supremacist movement poses a serious threat to American democracy and that it is important to understand its history and ideology in order to combat it.
