As it is written for beginners, and for the average boy, the straight line and the circle are very fully treated. The ele mentary ideas of the Calculus have been utilised, and full use made of one of the best of recent reforms, viz., the abolition of the water-tight compartment between Geometry and Algebra. The examples are numerous and varied, and a number of new types have been introduced, such as have been set in recent Examinations. Revision questions which may be taken orally, and Revision papers, are also given at various stages. The use of squared paper is encouraged, and another special feature of the work is the very free use of diagrams. All the most important properties of the Conic Sections are proved, either by Algebra or by Geometry, and the book claims to be complete as far as, and including the use of Cartesian and Polar coordinates.
