The Books of Joshua, Judges, Ruth, I. And II. Samuel, I. And II. Kings: The Common Version Revised With an Introduction and Occasional Notes (Classic Reprint) - Softcover
Synopsis
This book offers the entirety of the Old Testament’s historical narrative as a sequential history of Israel. Texts which appear duplicated in received texts are given only once, and texts existing in parallel versions are presented together with the less interesting or later version set in a footnote. Editors have assumed that the translation should do justice to the text as literature, while footnotes provide only necessary facts either to explain or supplement the text. The King James Version is used, given its position as a literary classic, though archaic spellings and obvious errors are corrected. Readers will find this corrected text especially helpful when navigating passages which require continual recourse to commentary in other bibles. This work provides average readers or those studying in schools an advantage, setting the narrative out to the best effect.
