Theorie stehende Richtung denselben mit Gewalt Eingang zu verschaffen bestrebt war, dass insbesondere in der von der Kirche anfangs mit Recht verachteten Instrumentalmusik manche mollior harmonia' im modus lascivus zu finden wäre, gegen welche Harmonie selbst das Tridentinum vergebene anfocht. Das zweite nicht zu unterschätzende Moment, welches bisher fast ganz übersehen wurde ist dies, dass unser, Naturgesang', welchen wir vielleicht noch am reinsten in dem Hochgebirge erhalten finden, dass dieser Gesang uns die Vermuthung nahe legen kann, dass die Art der Begleitung der Hauptstimme, oder besser gesagt, dass die Art der Verbindung zweier Stimmen lediglich einem harmonischen Instincte dieser Natursänger seinen Ursprung verdankt, dass derjenige, welcher überhaupt dies nicht kraft Anlage herausbringt, in Folge längeren Studiums wohl die Intervalle trifft, aber bei weitem nicht jene Reinheit erzielt, wie ein solcher, Natursänger'. Man könnte mit Recht fragen, woher haben diese Naturalisten diese Terzen und Sexten, lernten sie sie aus den Kirchengesängen?
