Excerpt from Sermon Notes: A Scheme for a Course of Three Years on the Chief Points of Christian Doctrine, With Synopses and References
The following pages, now offered to the clergy at large, originated in an endeavour to give effect in the Diocese of Northampton to the regulations on preaching laid down by the Holy See, especially in the Encyclical Acerbo N imis of April 25, 1905.
The object aimed at was to put into the hands of priests a programme of Sunday discourses which should present in a systematic form the Whole contents of Catholic belief and practice, and should harmonize, as far as possible, with the spirit of the liturgical seasons. A glance at the Table of Contents will show that this has been achieved.
