Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book analyzes the impact of ancient Greek philosophy on Islamic thought during the 9th and 10th centuries. The author delves into the extent to which Greek ideas shaped the development of several prominent Islamic theological schools, particularly the Mu'tazila and the Ash'arites. By comparing the doctrines of Greek philosophers like Plato, Aristotle, and the Skeptics to those of Islamic theologians like al-Razi, al-Farabi, and Ibn Sina, the author demonstrates that Greek philosophy significantly influenced the formation of Islamic theology, specifically in areas such as metaphysics, epistemology, and ethics. Through its interdisciplinary approach, this book provides a better understanding of the intellectual dialogue between Greek and Islamic thought and the creative reinterpretation of Greek ideas within an Islamic context.
