This book explores the field plot technique used in preliminary assessments of crop varieties. Namely barley, oats, and wheat when grown in small plots. The research presented here is the result of experiments conducted from 1919 to 1921. Using the data from these experiments, the author makes a case for plot size, replication, and adjustment to border row error as factors affecting accuracy. The experiments show that the size and replication of plots and whether yields were adjusted by means of check plots significantly affected variability.
