Greenwood and Batley, Ltd Engineers, Leeds, who, while not connected with him in the authorship or publication of the book, or in the matter contained therein, have kindly allowed him the use of blocks for the purpose of illustrating Ramie machinery, and to acknowledge his indebtedness for much valuable information upon the subject to the Economic Products Department of the Government of India, Calcutta; The Agricultural Research Institute, Pusa, India; the Department of Agriculture, Washington, USA Mr. Thos. Barraclough, London; and others. He hopes its publication will have the effect of making the great merits of Ramie more widely known, and the peen liarities of its manufacture better understood.
