Et si l'on veut connaître l'origine de tout ce qui est distinctif dans l'art des compositeurs russes modernes, c'est la musique liturgique profondé ment assimilée, c'est surtout la musique populaire où le génie de la race avaittrouvé son expression intégrale et spontanée, qu'il faut étudier tout d'abord.
