T H O U G H you are unapprized of the edit ence of the following trifles, you will eafily difcover whence they come I am confident, from the proofs which I have already experienced of your partial kind nefs, that you will accept them favourably. However lit tle gratification they may be able to afford you as poetry, you will be pleafed with them as a tribute of friendlhip. They are meant to delineate the fcenes and incidents, which they notice, with particularity fufficient to mark the characteriflic features of each; and to avoid, on the one hand, vague and indeterminate defcription; and on the other, fuch a degree of detail as would prove fcarcely.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is a detailed examination of the often misunderstood subject of British woodland landscapes, which typically evoke either idealized images of grand forests or bucolic copses, rather than the realities of modern-day woodland ecosystems. The book combines scientific understanding with lyrical prose to explore the typical flora and fauna of Britain's woodland habitats, and by doing so reveals the fascinating interconnection between the natural world and the imprint of human history and influence on the landscape. The authors demonstrate that these landscapes, far from being static and unchanging, are in fact constantly shaped by the close relationship between man and nature, and advocate for the preservation and management of these precious natural assets.
