Excerpt from The Chaplain, Vol. 22: A Journal for Protestant Chaplains, June 1965
A world 'in fear and ferment needs all the stability and restraint it can find, all the help and confidence it can muster. At twenty years the UN is young and imperfect but it is a tool at hand. It has done well whenever its support has been significant. If it needs to be re viewed in structure and procedure this should be done by the nations upon whom its existence depends.
One need not deny the present complexity and precariousness of life to subscribe to the inspiring View of the biblical prophets that the time shall come when nation shall no longer lift up sword against nation. Perhaps a revitalized and fully supported UN may be the instrument to move humanity a long stride toward justice and freedom for all men in a swordless world.
