This book sheds light on the early triumphs and turmoil of Christianity within the 30 years following the death of Christ. Within this time the gospel had spread to various regions of the Roman Empire, including major cities in modern-day Turkey, Greece, and Italy. It was a time of both great suffering and success for the apostles. Acts presents an account of the early church as it grappled with persecution, the loss of members, and the day-to-day challenge of spreading their beliefs in a hostile world. The work is attributed to Luke, a companion of Paul, who witnessed many of the events he describes. These early triumphs and challenges of Christianity are not only a fascinating historical account but are also a testament to the enduring power of religious belief.
