Originating from a series of studies by a team of experts in the field, the text explores the disease's varied clinical characteristics and course of illness with a focus on themes of nitrogen metabolism, etiology, and treatment. The authors' findings on nitrogen metabolism and the undetermined nitrogen fraction of the urine provide key insights into the disease process. The work also examines the results of different treatments, including blood transfusions and splenectomy, offering valuable guidance for hematologists and internists.
