Excerpt from Physical Geography: From the Encyclopedia Britannica
The present work is one of a series of articles written, at the request of the editors of the Encylopeedia Bria tannica, for publication in the new edition of that digest, Where it accordingly first appeared in 1859. Being desirous of publishing it in a separate form they have obligingly afforded the author an opportunity during the passing of the sheets through the press, of revising them, Whieh he has so far availed himself of as to make some not very important corrections Where they appeared to be needed, and to insert some few additional notices or remarks - chiefly in the form of notes. These are sufficiently distinguished, Where they occur, from the original text, but are not such, either in number or importance, to destroy the identity of the work With the original article. To write a com plete treatise on Physical Geography though a, noble.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This compelling book examines the key concepts of physical geography and their application in the real world. Distinct from its counterparts in being the work of a single author, it explores the general laws of physics and demonstrates their complex and fascinating interplay in the natural world. The text emphasizes the dynamic and ever-changing nature of our planet, revealing the processes that have shaped, and continue to shape, its surface over time. The author also delves into the impact of external forces, such as solar activity, on the ocean's currents and the distribution of land and sea. Through the lens of various disciplines, including astronomy, thermodynamics, and meteorology, the book offers a comprehensive understanding of the physical forces shaping our planet and the climatic conditions that sustain life on earth.
