This book offers an enthralling glimpse into the historic Parish Register of Kingston, crafted by the very hand of the first rector, the prodigious Reverend John Stuart. Beginning in 1785 and lasting until 1811, the register meticulously documents not only the religious affairs of Kingston but also offers invaluable insights into the town's social and economic life. As a central figure in the early development of the Church of England in Upper Canada, Stuart's writings provide a unique perspective on the religious, social, and political dynamics of the time. The register unveils the names of prominent individuals, the founding families of Kingston, whose actions shaped the nascent community. It shines a light on the challenges and triumphs of a young society, highlighting the vital role of the church in providing solace, guidance, and a sense of belonging to the early settlers of this burgeoning frontier town.
