Parry, and his colleagues. The author presents his summary in the form of a series of articles noting discoveries at many locations and providing detailed descriptions of new species found during the expedition. The author describes the physical hardships of travelling through a untamed land in pursuit of botanical discovery, and celebrates the beauty of the newly charted landscape. This book is significant as the expedition occurred in the Western United States before vast industrial and agricultural changes took place, offering a unique glimpse into a bygone era as well as significant contributions to our understanding of the geographical distribution of flora in North America.
