Synopsis

Excerpt from Choice Nursery Stock Wholesale and Retail: Season 1894-5

Too much cannot be said in favor of this delicious {fruit and now that the old na tive varieties are being pushed aside by the new and far more desirable sorts introduced during the last few years from Japan, no family or home should be without its Plum orchard, from which, planted with a selection from the Oriental family, Plums can be picked from June 1 to September. We do not altogether condemn the cultivated sorts of the American, or Chickasaw type, as there are some varieties that seem well adapted to the South.
