The author, a scientist working for the United States Department of Agriculture, conducted extensive research on the insect, its life cycle, feeding habits, and the damage it caused to cranberry crops. Through a series of experiments, the author tested various methods of controlling the pest, including the use of different insecticides and spray nozzles. The book provides valuable insights into the challenges faced by cranberry growers in the region and the development of effective strategies to combat this destructive pest.
