As the Jewish population, a minority group, grew and evolved within Boston from the 1920s onwards, so too did the need to support their young people within group activities. The author provides a detailed examination of the extension of group work activities beyond the four walls of an agency and into the wider community, with a particular focus on the provision of meeting places for youth. Drawing on extensive research of meeting places and group affiliations for Jewish youth, the author concludes that the increase in affiliation to organized groups can provide Jewish young people with a space to develop their interests and take part in activities with peers within a structured environment.
